
In his 45 years of practice, Gil Garcia, AIA, has designed commercial, residential, and institutional projects, as well as managed development projects. A community leader, he spent 10 years on Santa Barbara City Council and chaired or served on the board of 90 non-profit organizations including the Architectural Board of Review, the Housing Authority, the Human Services Commission, and the California Board of Architectural Examiners.
Elisa Garcia joined Garcia Architects in 2007 by merging her prior firm, jg architects, with Gil’s. With over 20 years of experience in architecture, facilities management, and project management as both an owner’s representative and an architect, Elisa has an in depth understanding of corporate real estate business issues. She has managed and designed hundreds of projects for large corporations including Equity Office Properties, The Irvine Company, Bank of America, Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, and Pacific Capital Bancorp, as well as individual tenants. When overseeing architectural and construction services at Bank of America's Major Operating Centers, and in her leadership role at Gensler, Elisa became adept at fast-tracking effective and creative solutions for various budgets. Elisa is a licensed architect with a Bachelor’s degree in architecture.
Garcia Architects has received 25 awards from the American Institute of Architects and various cities, and has been showcased in many publications including Santa Barbara Architecture, Santa Barbara Magazine and Architecture California.
